My story

In addition to being a Register Clinical Counsellor, I am a school counsellor, basketball coach, and former teacher in both private and public sectors, mainly working in inner-city schools. My counselling approach is person-centred, relational, and responsive to the unique needs of each individual.

I value building strong, authentic relationships with others, and I have experience working collaboratively with youth, parents, and caregivers while navigating complex and dynamic family and school systems. At the core of my work is cultivating a safe, supportive space where individuals feel heard, understood, and respected—while also feeling encouraged to be curious, take meaningful risks, and grow. I believe in fostering a growth mindset and supporting clients in building resilience, confidence, and self-awareness at their own pace.

Alongside my counselling practice, I am a ‘hoophead’ and dedicated highschool basketball coach, an experience that reflects my commitment to growth, teamwork, and mentorship. I value sport as a vehicle to teach about resilience and a growth mindset.

As a second-generation Asian Canadian, my own journey of identity and self-discovery informs my culturally responsive and reflective practice. A part of my personal learning involves active participation in Chinatown’s preservation of Chinese-Canadian culture, language, and history.

Outside of work and volunteering, I enjoy spending time with family, exploring the outdoors, and supporting my favourite sports teams.

My Approach

My approach is person-centered, relational, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with feeling seen, heard, and understood. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and systems-based approaches, adapting each session to meet the unique needs, strengths, and experiences of the individual in front of me.

I focus on emotional regulation with an emphasis on the nervous system and our window of tolerance with my clients. I believe in the importance of exploring attachment styles, family dynamics, and childhood adversities.
